Sounds are categorized by length... (long... medium... short).

XMPlay and Winamp can play IT, MOD, OGG, WMA, XM.

See tunes.htm for info on converting between filetypes. I had a lot of problems converting short WAVs to WMA and back to WAV. Some of them didn't want to play right after going WAV - WMA - WAV.
